Website Test

KeyCDN Speed Test

KeyCDN runs a quick, plain website speed test from a location you choose, with a clear waterfall and no account needed. Enter your URL below.

What KeyCDN measures

The test requests your page from one of ten test servers and reports total load time, page size, number of requests and a waterfall of every file. It is deliberately simple, so it is good for a fast answer rather than a deep investigation.

How to read your result

Page size is the number to watch here. Anything over about 2MB for a normal content page means images or fonts are doing more work than they need to. Compare the load time from a nearby server against a distant one to judge whether you need a CDN.

What to change first

If page size is high, find the largest image in the waterfall and re-export it at the size it actually displays. Most oversized images on the web are full resolution photos being shrunk by CSS to a fraction of their real dimensions.

Common questions

Do I need a KeyCDN account to run the test?
No. The speed test is free and open, and it does not require you to be a CDN customer.
Which test location should I pick?
Pick the one closest to most of your visitors, then run it again from a distant one. The difference between the two is the case for a CDN.
