What Facebook Debugger measures
The debugger shows the Open Graph tags Facebook found, when it last fetched the page, what the preview looks like now, and any warnings about tags that are missing or malformed.
How to read your result
The scrape time tells you how stale the cached version is. Warnings about a missing og:image:width or similar are worth clearing but rarely break anything. If the preview is empty and the tags look fine, Facebook may have been blocked from fetching the page by a firewall rule or a bot filter.
What to change first
Press Scrape Again after you change anything on the page. That is the whole purpose of the tool, and it takes effect immediately.
Common questions
- Do I need a Facebook account to use the debugger?
- Yes. Facebook requires a signed in account, and the tool will not run without one.
- Why does the debugger say it cannot reach my page?
- A security rule is usually blocking the Facebook crawler. Check your firewall or bot protection settings for rules that challenge non browser traffic.
